Seafoam Green and Alencon Lace Wedding Garter
By: Sarah Dobson | Monday 11th of March 2013 03:49:37 PM
It is no secret that seafoam green is a color that is trending in the bridal industry right now. I am not always a fan of color-trends, however this is one particular trend that I support whole-heartedly. I absolutely adore seafoam green. I find it to be languid, feminine, adorable and elegant all at the same time. Recently, I designed a gorgeous custom garter that incorporated seafoam green as an accent color. (see picture below) Isn't this garter precious? It is made of a fine champagne double-faced satin ribbon with an exquisite french alencon lace overlay. At the center is a seafoam green double faced satin ribbon bow with a sparkling rhinestone embellishment at the center. I think this garter is very dynamic in the sense that it tows the line between being very formal and traditional while still retaining a sort of playful modernity. If you are interested in ordering this garter or a garter similar to it, please feel free to contact us by using the contact form here or by emailing us directly at info@lagartier.com. Happy La Gartier everyone!

An Ivory Tulle Wedding Garter with Rhinestones and a Sparkling Brooch Named "Gracie"
By: Sarah Dobson | Thursday 31st of January 2013 06:02:55 PM
Introducing the Gracie garter. The Gracie garter is made out layered light ivory tulle fabric. At the center of the garter is a sparkling crystal rhinestone "Roman" brooch. Dotted around the body of the garter are over fifteen tiny swarovski crystal rhinestones. I think this garter is beyond perfect for the bride who loves bling, sparkles, or tulle. I would recommend this garter if you are wearing a dress that has a very full skirt (ie: a ballgown styled dress). If you are looking for a unmistakably princess-like, girly wedding garter than the Gracie is a must-have. You can order it by visiting The Garters page by clicking here or by contacting us directly at info@lagartier.com.

Personalized Wedding Garter: Nena Patterson's Pearl and Rhinestone Inspired Garter
By: Sarah Dobson | Sunday 6th of May 2012 05:34:25 PM
Well, it just so happens to be that wedding season is fully upon us this month and I am most definitely feeling all of the bridal frenzy!! Never has the studio of La Gartier been so busy with the sound of sewing machines, email alerts and new La Gartier brides! One of my favorite things to do is design personalized wedding garters, so when La Gartier bride Nena Patterson contacted me two weeks ago regarding a customization I was ecstatic. Nena wasn't %100 positive what she wanted her garter to look like so we spent a good amount of time chatting about the elements of her wedding, her favorite things, her personal style, etc. Then, I set to work shopping for things that might pique her interest. I was lucky enough to find two separate brooches that Nena loved: one, a vintage blue jeweled brooch that had the phrase "I love you more than yesterday but less than tomorrow" on it and two, a stunning pearl and rhinestone brooch. In the end, neither of us could decide which was prettier, so Nena told me to order both!! Once both brooches arrived here in the studio it was clear to both of us which brooch looked best on her garter: the pearl and rhinestone brooch undoubtedly. (Nena later decided to use the blue jewel brooch as her bouquet embellishment AND her something blue:) When we finally finished her personalized wedding garter design, I don't know who liked it more: me or Nena!! Its design perfectly suites Nena and her wedding style: elegant and tasteful. Below are pictures of the final product for you to see! If you or someone you know is interested in having a garter custom designed, please feel free to contact me at info@lagartier.com or feel free to use the contact form by clicking here.

Nena's Custom Wedding Garter: Pearl Dupioni Silk and embroidred tulle trim from Vera Wang. At the center is the pearl and rhinestone brooch that I found for Nena after three days of extensive shopping.

After securing the brooch, Nena felt that the body of the garter could use a little "dressing-up" so I set to work adding alternating pearls and rhinestones all around the body of her garter. This is a picture of the back of her garter once the additional embellishment was completed.

A picture of the side of Nena's garter once it was completely finished. Stunning, isn't it?

Bad Hair, Bad Nails, Good La Gartier
By: Sarah Dobson | Thursday 5th of April 2012 03:39:41 PM
I have to admit the past few weeks have been wonderful for La Gartier. Great new brides. Great new custom garter designs., new retail locations and even some new wedding garter designs. Then today, I looked in the mirror and realized that if I really want La Gartier to succeed and continue growing the way it has been I am going to need to be prepared to make some sacrifices. My hair for example, needs to be cut. It could use some highlights. And my nails? They look horrible. But am I going to go and spend one hundred and twenty dollars on my hair at a salon? Or thirty dollars every two weeks at a nail salon? These things simply aren't options anymore if I want La Gartier to succeed. So here is to having bad hair and crappy nails in order to have a successful business. Go La Gartier.

And the Winner is......Carly Robinson
By: Sarah Dobson | Tuesday 5th of July 2011 10:42:01 PM
Last week La Gartier had the chance to go to The Ultimate Wedding Show, one of Georgia's largest bridal shows. There were a ton of other vendors there, and La Gartier was just one that participated in a raffle that included over $500.00 worth of wedding goodies. I decided to do a give-away that featured one of my older garters, the "L.O.V.E." garter, which although no longer in ithe current collection is still super cute and flirty. Below is a picture the La Gartier give-away winner, Carly Robinson. Congratulations Carly!

What is a Wedding Garter Set?
By: Sarah Dobson | Tuesday 5th of July 2011 10:11:17 PM
Lately I have had so many brides ask me this question that it seems to be something worth blogging about. A garter set consists of two garters: a keepsake garter and a toss garter. The keepsake garter is, as the name would suggest, the garter that the bride wears on her wedding day and keeps as a special remembrance of her big day. The keepsake garter is usually a bit heavier on the design side, with initials or embellishments or hierloom jewelry that symbolize something special. The second garter, the toss, is a garter that the bride wears for her husband to remove and "toss" to all of his single bachelor friends. The tossing of the garter is an age old wedding garter tradition dating back to..........well.........we will save that for another blog post. The "tossing of the garter" generally takes place during the wedding reception. It is the man's version of the bouquet toss if you will. The keepsake is usually worn above the toss, as the toss needs to be available to be pulled off by the groom. Most of my garters are keepsake garters for the bride to treasure long after her wedding day, although I do offer garter sets for a small additional charge. If you need a toss to go with your keepsake, just contact me or let me know in the "comments" section of the checkout process and I can create a simple toss away garter for you! Below are a few pictures of La Gartier garter sets to give you a better idea of what and how to wear them. Happy La Gartier!

Monica Lynn Collier and the Monica Wedding Garter
By: Sarah Dobson | Tuesday 5th of July 2011 03:27:43 PM
A big thank you to Monica Lynn Collier of Grandville, Michigan for sending me photos of her custom La Gartier garter that I made last spring. Monica contacted me last January with a very specific idea of how she wanted to customize her garter, and I set to work creating her one-of-a-kind pearl and rhinestone design for her wedding on May 28th. Below are pictures of Monica Lynn Collier on her wedding day and a few pictures of her custom "Monica" garter!!

"Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill." - Monica Lynn Collier

Something Blue Wedding Garters
By: Sarah Dobson | Sunday 19th of June 2011 09:43:37 PM
One of my favorite garters in the collection is the "Carrie" garter. I imagine a large part of its popularity is due to the blue double-faced satin ribbon that centers it, making it a perfect "something blue" for the bride's attire. I have been noticing lately that brides usually tend to incorporate their "something blue" into the garter rather than, say, their bouquet or shoes. I think it is a great place to put a little splash of blue and look forward to including more blue detailing in the upcoming collection....and oh with all the different hues and shades of blue to choose from, how will I pick just a few? Sapphire blue, robin's egg blue, baby blue, royal blue, aqua blue, navy blue, midnight blue.........I love them all!! Until the new collection (and my anxiety over which colors to choose), if you are looking to put some blue into your big day, the "Carrie" gartier is a perfect option.Happy La Gartier everyone!

The "Carrie" garter is made of a layered polka dot english netting, centered by a darling baby blue double-faced satin ribbon bow and tiny rhinestone detail. $60.00

Aloha Hawaii Wedding Garter Photos
By: Sarah Dobson | Monday 6th of June 2011 01:16:14 PM
It is rare to find cute photos of the actual garter removal, so when I saw these Aloha Wedding photos I just had to post them!! I love how you can see the joy on both of their faces as she falls down into the sand. I think what makes these garter photos so special is that you know her fall wasn't planned, and the photographer captured a very special, unexpected moment!
