Where Do I Wear My Wedding Garter?

I don't think a day passes that I don't hear the question "Where do I wear my wedding garter?" I often times request that brides send me their leg measurement when they order their garters, so this question also comes in the form of: "Where on my leg should I measure for my wedding garter?"

The answer to this question is fairly simple: Most brides wear their wedding garter about five to seven inches above the knee. And when I say knee, I do not mean the very center of your knee cap. Start measuring from the very top of your knee cap. Please remember that there is not a strict rule regarding where you wear a wedding garter. This shoud not be something you are stressing about on top of everything else you have to worry about on your wedding day!! It is kind of wherever it feels the most comfortable for you....I would say "mid-thigh" is the best description. Also, please know that it does not matter which leg you pick to wear the garter on. It is your pick. Right or left. Just pick the leg that is the most comfortable for you. 

A few things to keep in mind when deciding where to wear your wedding garter:

1. Are you planning on having your photographer take a few shots of your garter on your leg? If so, you probably want to wear your wedding garter closer to your knee than your hips. That way, you won't have to hike up your wedding dress so hight that the photos come out looking a bit......well.......indecent shall we say.

2. Are you wearing your garter so low on your thigh that it feels like it might slip off if you take more than ten steps wearing it? If so, pull up your garter a few inches so that it fits snugly to your leg.

3. Is your wedding garter squeezing your thigh so tight that it is cutting off your circulation? If so, perhaps lower it down towards your knee a bit so as to loosen it. 

4. If you are planning on having two garters (one to toss and one to keep) then make sure to wear your toss below your keepsake for "easy access" so to speak.
