Vintage Wedding Garter Set

Today's blog post is all about vintage wedding garters as I seem to have quite a few of them in the collection. Why might you ask? Well, I am a huge fan myself but also have noticed a huge vintage trend within the wedding industry that started about three years ago. I am seeing vintage everything: from veils, to table decor, to bouquet wraps and even photo styles. To keep in the same mood, I have made sure to include a touch of vintage in the collection, creating over five different vintage garter styles. If you are looking for a vintage-inspired wedding garter or a vintage wedding garter set, look no further than La Gartier. Vintage is pretty much our speciality. Please feel free to look through all of the garters in the collection here or email info@lagartier.com if you want to take the easy route and just ask us. Happy La Gartier everyone!! Below are a few of my favorite vintage garter sets from the collection!

Custom Garter: Andrea Antunes and the Andrea Garter
By: Sarah Dobson | Friday 16th of September 2011 06:53:27 AM
I recently designed a garter for La Gartier bride Andrea Antunes, who is getting ready to tie the knot with her soon-to-be hubby in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Andrea wanted to create a garter that in some way honored her late grandmother, and decided to incorporate a vintage cameo brooch in order to do so. We ended up co-shopping in order to find it. That is, I did some shopping locally for antique brooch cameos, while Andrea looked around on the internet. After a bit of a search, Andrea sent me the link to an undeniably stunning peach and ivory cameo trimmed with rhinestones in an antique jewelry shop on Etsy (Gotta love Etsy). I ordered it and, while waiting for it to arrive, set to work designing the body of the garter. Andrea wanted the body to match her sash, which, based on the picture she sent me, is just stunning with pearls and rhinestones galore. To add the final touch, Andrea decided to run a blue ribbon along the inside of her garter and asked me to hand embroider her wedding date onto it. I am new at embroidery but set to work "sew writing" the date 11-26-11 onto a carefully selected baby blue ribbon. The end result is absolutely fabulous. I say "is" because I have it right here in my studio, waiting to get packed up and shipped to Andrea. I can't take my eyes off of it. There are two different sizes of pearls all the way around the body of the garter, with over thirty tiny rhinestones dotted throughout. The center cameo, which couldn't arrive in the mail fast enough, is just perfect in size and design. Lastly, the baby blue hand embroidered ribbon along the inside is a detail I am so happy Andrea suggested. It is a tiny detail that carries a big punch if you ask me. Below is Andrea's garter, along with a picture of Andrea herself. Congratulations Andrea! It was so fun to create your garter!

And the Winner of the "Kim" Garter is...................
By: Sarah Dobson | Saturday 10th of September 2011 04:09:33 PM
This week I partnered with Becky of the delightfully pretty wedding blog Bow Ties and Bliss for a give away that offered one lucky bride the chance to win either the Kim garter, the Avery garter, or the Lauryn garter.
Yesterday, the winner was announced and guess what? It was a bride named Kim who had picked the "Kim" garter as her favorite. Can anyone say meant-to-be?
Kim wrote this underneath the posting: “My choice would be the Kim. I’m not being biased because my name is Kim either. It’s perfect for me because my dress is ivory and it has an almost nautical feel. My wedding is going to be on a yacht so the nautical feel is definitely something I’m going for.”
Congratulations Kim! Perhaps we can put something a bit nautical on your garter to match your theme?
