Seafoam Green and Alencon Lace Wedding Garter

It is no secret that seafoam green is a color that is trending in the bridal industry right now. I am not always a fan of color-trends, however this is one particular trend that I support whole-heartedly. I absolutely adore seafoam green. I find it to be languid, feminine, adorable and elegant all at the same time. Recently, I designed a gorgeous custom garter that incorporated seafoam green as an accent color. (see picture below) Isn't this garter precious? It is made of a fine champagne double-faced satin ribbon with an exquisite french alencon lace overlay. At the center is a seafoam green double faced satin ribbon bow with a sparkling rhinestone embellishment at the center. I think this garter is very dynamic in the sense that it tows the line between being very formal and traditional while still retaining a sort of playful modernity. An Ivory Tulle Wedding Garter with Rhinestones and a Sparkling Brooch Named "Gracie"

Introducing the Gracie garter. The Gracie garter is made out layered light ivory tulle fabric. At the center of the garter is a sparkling crystal rhinestone "Roman" brooch. Dotted around the body of the garter are over fifteen tiny swarovski crystal rhinestones. I think this garter is beyond perfect for the bride who loves bling, sparkles, or tulle. I would recommend this garter if you are wearing a dress that has a very full skirt (ie: a ballgown styled dress). Georgia Bulldogs Wedding Garter for Remy Ellis

Last week was the third time I have gotten a custom wedding garter request for a Georgia Bulldogs garter. This time it came from La Gartier bride Remy Ellis who wanted, as she said: "the best Georgia Bulldogs garter ever created." So, I decided to make a garter that was prettier than any other GA Bulldog garter I have ever made before. To achieve this, Remy and I decided to make the body of the garter out of a fine double faced black satin ribbon and chantilly lace overlay. We both agreed that keeping the GA Bulldog logo to a minimum would be the best way to get a garter that was mostly elegant and feminine but also sporty. To bring in the "sporty" element, we put one single Georgia Bulldogs "G" just underneath the bow in the form of a charm. To take the garter from an eight to a ten, I decided to use over 100 different sized rhinestones and fresh water pearls along the body of her garter. I used two different sizes of rhinestones and three different sizes of pearls. (This took a REALLY long time by the way). Below are pictures of the final product. I think it is most certainly the prettiest GA Bulldogs garter ever made. Personalized Wedding Garter: Nena Patterson's Pearl and Rhinestone Inspired Garter

Well, it just so happens to be that wedding season is fully upon us this month and I am most definitely feeling all of the bridal frenzy!! Never has the studio of La Gartier been so busy with the sound of sewing machines, email alerts and new La Gartier brides! One of my favorite things to do is design personalized wedding garters, so when La Gartier bride Nena Patterson contacted me two weeks ago regarding a customization I was ecstatic. Nena wasn't %100 positive what she wanted her garter to look like so we spent a good amount of time chatting about the elements of her wedding, her favorite things, her personal style,etc. Then, I set to work shopping for things that might pique her interest. I was lucky enough to find two separate brooches that Nena loved: one, a vintage blue jeweled brooch that had the phrase "I love you more than yesterday but less than tomorrow" on it and two, a stunning pearl and rhinestone brooch. In the end, neither of us could decide which was prettier, so Nena told me to order both!! Once both brooches arrived here in the studio it was clear to both of us which brooch looked best on her garter: the pearl and rhinestone brooch undoubtedly. (Nena later decided to use the blue jewel brooch as her bouquet embellishment AND her something blue:) When we finally finished her personalized wedding garter design, I don't know who liked it more: me or Nena!! Its design perfectly suites Nena and her wedding style: elegant and tasteful. Below are pictures of the final product for you to see! Nena's Custom Wedding Garter: Pearl Dupioni Silk and embroidred tulle trim from Vera Wang. At the center is the pearl and rhinestone brooch that I found for Nena after three days of extensive shopping.
After securing the brooch, Nena felt that the body of the garter could use a little "dressing-up" so I set to work adding alternating pearls and rhinestones all around the body of her garter. This is a picture of the back of her garter once the additional embellishment was completed.

La Garter featured on Lovely Little Details!!!!!!!

Last week, La Gartier was featured on Lovely Little Details!! Lovely Little Details is the wedding diary of Jacin Fitzgerald a wedding planner and DIY junkie. I started following Lovely Little Details about a year ago and have grown to like it more and more over time........which is sayin' alot because I liked it so much to begin with. The branding alone and color scheme of the blog is irressistably cute for anyone with an eye for good graphic design. On top of that, the way Jacin writes and what she write about is A+++ in my opinion. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw a posting all about La Gartier last Thursday. Wedding Garter Re-Defined.

Wedding Garter:
1. An elasticized band worn around the leg to hold up a stocking or sock.
This is the definition I get when I pull up "wedding garter definition" in google. Is it just me or does it leave something to be said? Where is the wedding part? I've run this search for the definition of wedding garter about six times now in different ways and nowhere can I find the definition of the type of wedding garter you and I know of. Hhhmmmmm........so not only does the garter need to be re-designed but appartently re-defined as well. Let's see if I can do something about this.
Wedding Garter. Noun. 1. A elasticized accessory often worn around the upper leg of a bride on her wedding day. (The La Gartier addition to this definition? Traditionally a very old, dated-looking accessory ((hideous really)), but more and more often this little piece of elastic is becoming one of the hottest, most sought after wedding accessories. Today, brides from New York to London can find a gorgeous wedding garter that either matches the color pallete of their wedding, their wedding style, or their personality!!)

Vintage Wedding Garter

So! I am so excited to share with you one of my favorite new garter designs from the upcoming collection. I love this garter so much that I am dedicating an entire blog posting to it! Below is the "Virginia" garter, made out of an exquisite ivory double faced satin ribbon and ivory antique lace. Centering the garter is a breath-taking locket that screams vintage weddings. And yes, the garter really opens! Just recently a bride told me that she put a picture of her late grandmother inside the locket so that she could be close on her big day, which I thought was a remarkable.

Loving this photo from La Gartier bride Andrea Antunes-McGilton. Andrea had her garter customized and although you can't see the garter very well in this picture, it was hands down one of the most stunning personalized garters I have ever done. Doesn't she look GORGEOUS?? The Vera Wang gown doesn't hurt.....
